Lethbridge police are asking for public help finding a woman who may have information related to the death of Irene Carter.
The 78-year-old woman was found lifeless in her south side home Jan. 17; her death was ruled the city’s first homicide of 2016 two days later.

“The Calgary Medical Examiner’s office determined Mrs. Carter died as a result of stab wounds and as such the death has been ruled a homicide,” Lethbridge police executive officer Kristen Harding said in January.
Lethbridge Police Sgt. Ryan Stef said Wednesday investigators are trying to find a woman who “goes by the name of Terri Lynn or Terri with the last initial ‘L.’” He wasn’t able to specify the spelling of her name.
“She’s believed to have attended gambling anonymous groups in Calgary…and is believed to live in Airdrie,” Stef said. He said she may have a pink coat (below).
He described the woman as in her late 20s or early 30s, around 5’4” or 5’5” and about 250 pounds. He said she has dirty blonde hair with some brown streaks, and a tattoo on one of her wrists.

Stef said police became aware of Terri in the past few days after speaking with witnesses in the case, but have been unable to locate her. He didn’t know if Terri knew Carter, and said she’s not a suspect at this time.
“She’s simply a person that may have some information that will help us progress our case forward,” he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Stef at 403-330-5066 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Carter’s daughter, Lisa Freihaut, issued an emotional plea to anyone with more information on the case two weeks ago. At the time, police said they were searching for witnesses and trying to get the investigation back on the public’s radar.
