Aftermath of Gottingen Street shooting that left one dead caught on camera

Halifax Regional Police are calling a late night shooting in Halifax, which left one man dead, a suspected homicide.

Police were called to the 2000 block of Gottingen Street after reports of multiple shots fired around 11 p.m. Tuesday night.

When they arrived, police located two males in a vehicle. A 23-year-old Dartmouth man was pronounced dead at the scene and a 31-year-old originally from Halifax, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Officials say his condition has improved.

A police officer confirmed with Global News that a body was removed from the scene hours later.

Witnesses tell Global News they heard multiple shots fired moments before the police arrived.

The Halifax Regional Police forensic team was on scene throughout the morning, and police are calling the death suspicious.

So far police have no suspect description as they continue their investigation.

Police say an autopsy will be conducted on the victim later Wednesday.

Police aren’t releasing his identity as they wait to notify his next of kin.
